Fake Your Own Death’s Terry Ashkinos has utilized the past eighteen months observing, protesting, and vocalizing his opinions. As his thoughts and feelings on just about every hot topic have been well documented in lyric, essays, and social media posts, this social conscience warrior hasn’t let the pandemic, insurrection, police brutality, and politicizing of society’s basic common needs go quietly into the night.
And as his alter-ego, El Terrible, Ashkinos has chronicled his views on this wary new era via a weighty new 9-track album called Spit. A logistically difficult feat that found the songwriter collaborating with a vast array of top players, a limited budget, and a lockdown that restricted in-room meetings. And the result isn’t only impressive, this set is also a blistering history lesson shared through brooding through-provoking rock n roll.
