My Head's a Television

Hot on the imminent release of LA’s Broken Baby’s new single “Beautiful Voices“, I thought it’d be a swell idea to take a deep dive into the band’s catalog of crunchy and socially conscious singles. And I’ve landed on one of my favorite late-night high-speed autobahn tracks, “My Head’s a Television” (2019).

A chainsaw post-punk punk-rock single with the outfit’s founding duo Amber Bollinger and Alex Dezen volleying pointed vocals and dagger-like riffs in this song about, as I hear it, digital brainwashing via (social) media, screens, and incessant bombardment of content. YIKES, we’re all drowning in new virtual religions… And it’s only worsened since 2019. C’est la vie…Je suppose.

Backed by Brian Griffin on drums and Adam Popick on bass, “My Head’s a Television” is a cerebral powderkeg and sounds as fresh and potent today as it did pre-pandemic and before Broken Baby became one of the most hotly anticipated live bands in Los Angeles.

Buckles-up buttercup, you can stream the now classic Deep Cut (+ see if you can catch the nod to Suicidal Tendencies), here at the GTC.
