…born with love, THE WILD WEST Better Way

With the beauty of multi-part harmonies and just enough twang in its Americana arrangement to feel both nostalgic as well as zeitgeist folk simultaneously, the 2021 debut single “Better Way” from music collective The Wild West feels like a postcard from a very trying time for us all. But then again, its message of harmony doesn’t know the constraints of a calendar.
A quote by the outfit’s Manda Mosher, via Bandcamp, speaks to the origins, “The song came out of a desire to bring more ideas of unity and hope into our troubled times. I went out into the studio and started the song inspired by our group discussions. I sent the start of it off to the girls for collaboration and we all ended up with a similar lyrical vision of hope.”
Besides another indelible single, a redux of the Neil Young-penned, “Comes A Time“, I couldn’t find much more current goings on from this crew. A group comprised of Amilia K Spicer, Manda Mosher, Heather Anne Lomax, Tawny Ellis, Pi Jacobs, and Deb Morrison, perhaps the world opening up spurred these powerful voices to go back to their solo careers…But maybe, just maybe, the heavens will align and we’ll get some more great tunes in the future.

“I firmly believe that you can’t survive as a woman in this business without passion, dedication, a sense of humor, and an ability to pick yourself up after a hard fall – which we all have,” – Pi Jacobs
