Reason to stay, VIDEO/SINGLE: BART BUDWIG – Sock Song [Burn on the Astroturf LP]
Bart Budwig – Sock Song [Burn on the Astroturf is available @ Fluff & Gravy Records].

by Walter Price
Whether you’re into modern bluesy troubadours like Chris Stapleton or Jamey Johnson or the era when Shel Silverstein’s lyrics got twisted, Dr. Hook smoothed things out and Willie Nelson ruled the poetic and rawer side of music, Oregon singer-songwriter Bart Budwig’s new single “Sock Song” should fill your stockings nicely.
A metaphoric track, exploring the realism of how partners, for whatever reason, can go astray. Directed by Luke Zwanziger, the video furthers the duality of the track, the familiar realities of a struggling relationship and the need to look at it with a glimmer of hope, is set in a vivid laundromat. With a not too surprising amount of late-night shenanigans and a brilliantly funny cameo by a perfectly just off-key chorus of…sock puppets.
“Sock Song” is from the phenom LP, ‘Another Burn on the Astroturf’, via Fluff and Gravy Records. An album stocked with new and reworked Budwig originals, as well as a retelling of Nick Drake’s “Northern Sky”.
