Kitty Solaris has been noted for many things throughout her long and winding journey through the Berlin indie music scenes. Her sincerity in songwriting is just one of her endearing artistic virtues. And if you step back several years to 2007 and to her starkly beautiful LP, “Future Air Hostess”, you’ll find a track lamenting the balance between confidence and thirst for something more.
Solaris sings, “Tomorrow I’ll be perfect/ Not now, not today/ Tomorrow I’ll be perfect/ Disconnect, disconnect me from today/ Proud of what I am/ I’m proud of what I do/ Never be ashamed of what I am or what I do…”. Now, interpret these lines as you will, but the sense of finding comfort in one’s skin seems pretty prevalent and relatable. An inner dialogue most have had and set to song is indelible.
