HOLIDAY DEEP CUT: THE BLANK TAPES Hallelujah
The Blank Tapes Hallelujah is available on Hwy. 9, Apple Music, Deezer
by Walter Price
The Blank Tapes have been kicking out their versions of psych surf, pop, garage, and and beyond for as long as I can remember, but every time I pop on an album or track from the massive back catalog I still get the feeling that this evergreen outfit is my little secret. Take for example, what could be considered a Holiday track, “Hallelujah”.
Taken from their mega release “Hwy. 9” (2014), this Irish folk-vibed ear candy is an ode to the passing of time. As the Holidays and New Year are upon us, self-renewal will once again be all the rage. And the jaunty and sweet tune is all about the kindness of love and forgiveness. Just the kind of song to pop on while you sip some sweet Christmas wine by a warm fire and a sympathetic soul next to you as you count the blessings of growth, life, and connectivity.
At this moment, there’s no place to go, so take a load off and stream the hidden-in-plain-sight gem, “Hallelujah”, at the GTC.
