…right as rain, ROSS COOPER Love Like the Old Days
Ross Cooper Love Like the Old Days is available on Lightning Heart LP, Deezer, Apple Music
by Walter Price
From his brilliantly authentic and well-received LP, ‘Lightning Heart’, Ross Cooper’s keeping-the-ole-flames-burning single “Love Like the Old Days” conjures up some real classic Keen and Strait-era Texas country.
Heartfelt and full of cherished moments, Cooper has been quoted about the track’s origin story, “I wanted to write a song about my wife and the type of relationship that our folks have. The type of marriage worth writing about. This song fell out. I knew it was going to be a special song from the moment we finished it. And the cherry on top of all of it was I got my wife, O’Neal (who swears up and down that she ‘can’t sing’), to sing harmony on the track, and she sounds beautiful.”
There’s an ever-increasing amount of alt-country/Americana offerings out here these days, but for the money, if you will—Take Ross Cooper’s ‘Lightning Heart’ for a drive, and if time is an issue, get started with the love can be forever “Love Like the Old Days”, here at the GTC.

“I’m a cowboy, and that’s always been a huge part of my ethos, and it’s absolutely inspired my songwriting, but at my core, I’m a writer and storyteller. It’s the part of me that has endured and makes me feel like I have a purpose. It’s so hard for me to pick a favorite on this album. Every song is a page out of my life that I’m excited to share with people.” – Ross Cooper (bio)
