Jenn Grinels – Live Volume I is available at Apple Music, Spotify, SoundCloud.

Wandering singer-songwriter Jenn Grinels knows no boundaries when it come to her sound. Jazz, standards, folk, pop and soft rock all shine bright when she crafts one of her stage ready songs. And it may be no surprise that one of the best albums to released in 2021, so far, is her aptly titled live album, ‘Live Volume I’.
A 12 track beauty full of the singer’s trademark vocal dexterity and her ease of moving seamlessly between genres. But the real star of the album is the songwriter’s connection to her audience. Recorded over three shows [The Music Box in Cleveland, OH, Rams Head Onstage in Annapolis, MD, and Avalon Theater in Easton, MD] in 2019, this set is to the brim with humor, selfless honesty, and the kind of personality that will make you think you’re having a coffee and playing records with a friend. And in this continuing turbulent time, when concerts have been non grata, this release is a welcomed comfort most have been longing for.
Too many highlights to single out, but if I had to, I’d say her duet with the incomparable Steve Maggiora on “Maybe I’m Amazed”, is a contender for the most moving on the set. Or perhaps, the ‘horn section’ on track two, “Don’t Wanna Be Happy”, is all the money. Maybe the marital jab before “Misery” is my favorite. It’s all too hard to say, so I’ll leave it up to you to find your most enjoyable moments of magic from ‘Live Volume I’, as it should be.
You can stream the full live album pls Grinels 2020 LP, ‘Go Mine’, now at the GTC.
