SUNDAY CLASSIC GTC: LASERS LASERS BIRMINGHAM Wild Animals
Lasers Lasers Birmingham – Warning is available @ Apple Music, Spotify.
by Walter Price
With parts, Bakersfield sound and hints of Red Dirt, and a whole lotta honky-tonk shuffle, Lasers Lasers Birmingham’s “Wild Animals” is the life-of-the-party anthem, a true celebration of being young and free that your weekend get-loose shindig is calling for.
To bring it all home in realistic all-nighter truths, the video, directed by Stephen Burns, is everything you and your mates would do. Meet up at a desert hideout, drink nearly cold Coors and Pabst Blue Ribbon, BBQ, a little smoke, and act like fun lovin’ fools on an open landscape. And as far as I could see, with nary a too cool for school microbrew or boutique IPA in-sight, just good ole folk letting loose and doing the dog days right. Just as your favorite summer deities would want it.
“Wild Animals” comes from the band’s brilliantly eclectic ‘Warning’ LP. A collection that’s reminiscent of the pioneering country-rock risks the Flying Burritos Brothers once embarked on (minus that zombie reference, of course). It’s available now.
