Jimmy Eat World Will Bring You Damage

Damage
OUT NOW

By Walter Price

I really had no idea that the ‘modern-rockers’ from Arizona, Jimmy Eat World, were out on tour. To make things even worse, I had no idea that the worldwide college campus favorites recently released a new album Damage!

I’ve just put the album(download) on and so far so good! So much great music being released this 2013 that I seem to be missing out on grand sounds…I need more ears!

Seriously, who didn’t find the Jimmy Eat World albums Static Prevails (’96), Bleed American (’01) and Futures (’04) to be tow tappin’ catchy as hell emo-indie-ish gems? I say ‘–ish’ due to the fact they had major label backing but also found the outfit releasing material on smaller labels over time as well…

Anyway, Damage, seems to find the band not reinventing the wheel but elaborating on something that wasn’t broken in the first place. Fine with me. Producing duties are being handled here by stellar musician Alain Johannes (QOTSA / Eleven).

“I would say this album has a theme. I would describe it as an attempt at making an adult breakup record. The consequences to what the characters are going through are more significant. There’s just more to it. I’m 37 and the world around me is a lot different than when I was writing breakup songs in my 20s. I tried to reflect that in what the lyrics are.” – Jim Adkins (RollingStone.com)

Right on! What is also righteous is that you can catch Jimmy Eat World in all their glory on the road right now! Do It! Dig It! Got It! Good!
