Happy Mother’s Day
By Walter Price
“My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.” – Mark Twain
It’s a biological fact that we all have a mother. For the most part mothers are loving, caring, all-knowing beings with eyes in the back of their heads.
Guiding us through the good times, the bad, the scrapes, hurt, lost loves, failed ideas and you know, you have a mother. Your mother always found a way…a way to make everything alright. Tough love or a shoulder to cry on.
“My mother told me on several different occasions that she was livin’ her dream vicariously through me. She once said that I was getting’ to do all the things that she would have wanted to have done.” – Buck Owens
So Happy Mother’s Day to all the rockin’ cool Mommy’s out there.
Here is a smattering of songs that have found their way into our thoughts about our mothers. Not all have been directly written in celebration of the great parental one but we have adopted them as homages anyway.
2 Pac – “Dear Mama” (1995)
Glen Campbell/Steve Wariner – “The Hand That Rocks The Cradle” (1987)
The Beatles – “Your Mother Should Know” (1967)
Ozzy – “Mama I’m Coming Home’ (1991)
Blondie – “Mother” (2010)
Rolling Stones – “Mother’s Little Helper” (1966)
Merle Haggard – “Mama Tried” (1968)
