THE TOMMYHAWKS ‘BLUEBIRD’
The Tommyhawks is a four-piece band based in Perth, Australia, and they have a unique vibe and sound that really caught my ear when I first checked out this track: ‘Bluebird’, taken from the band’s EP ‘We’re Meat And We’re Gonna Get Eat’. As for pinning a label on this crew… well, how about blues/folk/indie-rock? Or something like that. You know, with saxophone and mandoline. Better just give ’em a listen and make up your own mind!
‘We’re Meat And We’re Gonna Get Eat’ is available from Bandcamp.
The Tommyhawks are Addison Axe on vocals, guitar, and mandolin; Jess June on drums and percussion; Ness Thornton on bass, and Thea Woodward on sax and organ.

TEN BENSON ‘MUD MAN’
A big thank you to my friends here at Global Texan Chronicles for turning me onto this track and band when they featured this video a while back.
To quote Walter Price at GTC, this is for “fans of low slung heavy riffed dirty societally skeptical rock n’ roll”. Yeah, this definitely qualifies as dirty rock’n’roll, and I just frigging love the fierce and gritty vibe from UK-based rockers Ten Benson here!
New TB Christmas single coming very soon!

RICHIE KOTZEN ‘YOU CAN’T SAVE ME’
There are some tunes that just slice right through you from the very first time you hear them, cutting to the heart of everything with their power and beauty and sheer raw presence. This is that kind of track for me.
I already knew that Richie Kotzen is an amazing vocalist (his work with The Winery Dogs gives ample proof of that), but on this track, and in this live performance, he takes it all to a new level. There’s so much searing and piercing emotion and pain and truth in this track that it just strikes me down to my very core.
The performance is from Richie Kotzen’s new live DVD ‘Richie Kotzen Live’. It’s available at Amazon.com and from CD Baby.
