For those of you who revel in the magic that was the heyday of synth poppers and rocknrollers such as Berlin, Spandau Ballet, ‘Til Tuesday, Human League, and what have you, your ears are about to re-enter Xanadu. For Los Angeles California’s meticulous retro cherishing pop duo Child Seat has unleashed a brilliant throwback vibed knockout called “Fucking Up A Good Thing”.
We’ve all weaponized our eagerness to the point it mucked up a good thing, but very few have the type of vocal ability as Madeleine Mathews to convey the all too human experience so poignantly. Mathews knows how to tell this evergreen tale with the kind of emotional agility that’ll have broken hearts from near and far singing along in angsty unison. All this is sewn into the delicious aforementioned 1980s-esque synthy arrangement for the modern day. Swoon Swoon.
There’s absolutelsý no need to take my word for it, stream “Fucking Up A Good Thing” here, at the GTC.
