DANKO JONES – Burn In Hell
I love, love, love this tune by Danko Jones, and I love the video. The band used a bit of a different process to make it than the usual, professionally shot stuff:
“We asked our fans to film us during our European Fall Tour 2018, playing our latest song “Burn In Hell”. This is the result – a music video made by you, our fans.”
Check out the track, and if you ever have a chance to do it, go see Danko Jones live. This is a band that just SLAYS on stage. You can check out all the tour-dates for Danko Jones on the band’s website.
HANDS OFF GRETEL – I Want the World
by Maria Savva
Hands Off Gretel recently launched a very successful Pledge Music campaign to help release and promote their new album, “I Want The World”. The album is set to be released on 29th March 2019. The Pledge campaign has now closed but you can still pre-order the album and support the band by pre-ordering the album directly from their website. You’ll also find a video there explaining why the band decided to close the Pledge page.
While you’re on the website check out the other items on sale, including jewelry, art prints, and T-shirts designed by the talented singer, Lauren. The band have released an awesome video for the title track from the upcoming album, which I’ve picked as today’s Track of the Day.

THE COATHANGERS – Bimbo
So, I quite like punk music. And I really like alt-rock. And there’s nothing I like more than when the two things come together. I’ve written about The Coathangers before when I reviewed their last EP Parasite back in 2017. I am a bit of a fan.
This is the lead single from an upcoming album by the band. The Devil You Know is out in March and follows last year’s live record and their last studio album Nosebleed Weekend which saw them in experimental mode, mixing their signature punk sound with 60’s psyche and the occasional burst of strange, twee k-pop. Some of that experimentation worked brilliantly, some of it may be less so.
In any case, this is great. At the start of it you may be thinking why the hell I’ve picked this for a rock blog. It has elements of 50’s female doo-wop to it but reminds me most of something by Saint Etienne – it’s quite mellow and sweet. But bear with it for a minute because when Stephanie Luke jumps in on the vocal it really finds its spine. And then you realize the contrasts they’re playing with here and actually, it’s inspired. The song is called ‘Bimbo’. So it sets itself up as a nice little incidental number and then immediately subverts itself with some hidden steel. Actually, a little bit like Saint Etienne, but with a harder edge.
