Thomas Dybdahl – ‘Stray Dogs’ (2003) |
“Music is a proud, temperamental mistress. Give her the time and attention she deserves, and she is yours. Slight her and there will come a day when you call her and she will not answer. So I began sleeping less to give her the time she needed.” – Patrick Rothfuss
Part 7
Thomas Dybdahl – “Stray Dogs” (2003)
Now this is an artist I’ve actually met a few times. And you know it’s different when you meet a person and then you get to listen to their music. There is usually a connection before you’ve even heard the first note. It was at Popkomm in Cologne back when Popkomm was still hip (no idea how it is now). I went there with a few people from the record label, we wanted to see Thomas Dybdahl’s performance. We all ended up drinking a lot, had a great time at the concert, drank a lot more and somehow ended up sleeping in a car. It sure was an experience. How we got home the next day i can’t remember but for some reason I am very sure there was a train involved.
Ryan Adams – “Jacksonville City Nights” (2005)
If I’m honest and if I could I would list every single one of Ryan Adams’ albums on here. I had them all and I enjoyed them all. Seems like he had the perfect music for every phase in my life. He is the Willie Nelson of my generation. 2005 was just a blah year. I got a good job and I guess that was the biggest highlight. I loved to learn back then, just not about history, it just doesn’t stick with me. My days became more planned due to the job other than that not much going on.
