Andrea Schroeder Void
Andrea Schroeder Void out now Glitterhouse Records.
by Walter Price
There has and always will be something timeless and cinematic about Germany’s late-night voiced Andrea Schroeder. Something Rita Hayworth or Marlene Dietrich filtered through thoughts of Tom Waits.
The shadowy elegance that is Schroeder has returned after her remarkable 2014 Where The Wild Oceans End with a new album Void and the artist has a new DIY video for the beat-heavy title track in support. A video that showcases the before mentioned tormented late night appeal Schroeder does so well.
Pray for silence, pray to god, pray to the devil
Whatever you share, it all goes down in the void
The beautifully addictive track conveying desperation and pleading prayers to whom or whatever will do the dirty work of carrying the narrator to the other side of or through the darkness. There is depth and tactile substance in Void not found in factory produced pop music.
