The heyday of the Vans Warped Tour saw some of the most righteous bands get their nationwide start. Bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Fall Out Boy, Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies (feat. Foo Fighters’ Chris Shiflett and NOFX’s Fat Mike), and many more spread their wings at the annual punk circus. But the smaller bands held their own and none better than the LA outfit The Randies.

Sienna DeGovia, Laurita Guaico, Laura Cataldo, and a cast of various drummers made the VWT a riot. Their brash, no holds barred California flavored rock n roll was a perfect fit. The woman of the band had a certain brand of streetwise toughness and personal sensitivity that emanated from their two full-length albums and live performances.

Back in the day, this band took their wares across the country and back until they were forced to call it quits when their tour van was stolen in 2009. Losing all their gear in the process, I can only assume, that daunting realizations hit hard. This moment in time saw the world lose one of the most promising all-girl (mostly) bands. But their sounds live on and you can check out the video for “I Thought I Could Change” from their second album, Saw the Light, below.

Under the video, follow the link to a classic interview I had with group one blistering NYC winter night. Oh, the memories…
