One of our favorite Berlin subculture songwriters, producers, entrepreneurs Kitty Solaris returns with a smashing techno-pop trip called “And the World Stops Turning”. Replete with retro bleeps and beats, laser beam swooshes, and heeps of ethereal disco grooves, of course. Solaris has a knack for balancing indelible pop sensibilities and the sounds of the underground. And this one is no exception.
And if you’re not too familiar with the Marvelous Ms. S, check out this blurb from the songcrafter’s own bio, “Kitty Solaris is cool and direct, soft, sincere, underground and disco. And yes, all of it. She knows the best roads through the city and through its people. She started writing songs in her kitchen leading to no less than six albums… Kitty Solaris follows her heroes – Velvet Underground, Cat Power, and Patti Smith – but in a way that is all her own, combining various styles and both analogue and electronic sounds. Her music rings out to disco beats of the ’70s, keys from the ’80s, and rock vibrations from the ’90s. Which means, that the music has its very own kind of singer-songwriter style to it. Kitty Solaris’s voice is soft but with a strong core that leads listeners straight to her verbal everyday pictures. She’s offering a universe to move to and move through with existential themes and feelings we can all relate to.”
Hey, I’m a longtime fan of the moody soundscapes Kitty offers up and there’s no doubt that the new post-pandemic-disco “And the World Stops Turning” will have you bopping along in no time…You can find out for yourself, stream the fresh new single now at the GTC.
