With her recent EP ‘Transmute’, singer-songwriter Heather O’Neill works imperfections into pure singer-songwriter realism. Utilizing rawness to tell tales reminiscent of punk rock authenticities works well for this Chicagoan. Look no further than the single “Nicotine & Neon” to find what’s at the heart of O’Neill’s range. Moving slightly away from the stripped-down earthy sound of the other two tracks on this release and exploring more of a 90’s alt-rock vibe. Feelings of being underappreciated never sounded so tactile, and honestly, so addictive.
