Since I’ve never seen a single scene from The Mandalorian I’d be least qualified to speak to its powers. But I’ve heard such great things and the Star Wars spinoff has inspired many to pay heartfelt homage. Blogs, memes, and songs basking in the Disney+ show. And the enthusiastic purveyor of 80s synth-rock Pete Hopkins’s Get Back VAL just dropped an addictive ode with their track, “This Is The Way”.
Brash and reminiscent of those indelible 1980s redemption film sequences songs, this tribute to the humanization of a supercommando is a true romp. In a YouTube blurb, Hopkins is quoted, “I had no idea what to expect when I first watched the Mandalorian Season 1 and the last thing I expected to see was a professional bounty hunter (it’s a complicated profession) basically turn into a single dad to keep safe a little Baby Yoda! The story was so inspiring that it brought this original song to life! I hope you enjoy it!”
