“Cupid Deluxe, his latest Blood Orange offering, is a personal statement of an artist finally finding his sound. More cohesive than 2011’s artful but unfinished Coastal Grooves, the album carries memorable, melancholy songs detailing life New York City. Though he played every instrument, recorded, and produced the tracks himself, Cupid Deluxe feels especially collaborative due to its multitude of guest spots and cameos. Lead single “Chamakay” features Chairlift’s Caroline Polachek, whose airy, meditative vocals carry the stunningly smooth, island-tinged track.
