Pop Isn’t Country: Meet Cody Johnson

East Texas native Cody Johnson and his band, The Cody Johnson Band, have quickly built a following in the Texas Red Dirt music scene. He’s gone from supporting act to being able to fill dance-halls, honky tonks and rodeo arenas across Texas and the surrounding states. He’s already charted with tracks like “Nobody To Blame”, “Pray For Rain” and “Texas Kind of Way”.

But with his vocal and guitar style someplace between Chris LeDoux Luke Bryan, Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings you’d be hard pressed to find better efforts than his “Grandpa”, “Diamond In My Pocket”, “Ocean Of Whiskey” and “Ride With Me”.

Do yourself a favor and take some time, grab a cold one and listen to this Texan’s brand of Red Dirt country and you’ll be instantly hooked!
