These days music videos get bogged down with convoluted concepts, overly excessive budgets, and nonsensical jibber-jabber. Then there are the music clips that truly come across as adverts, not just for the track itself but for the people behind the music.

Screamin’ Miss Jackson and the Slap Ya Mama Big Band have done the proper thing with their new Mike Sides directed one “Old Bones” (Little Paradise Record) and made a music video that entices the observer to want to come round, pour some drinks and stay a while.

Here are just a few of the bits that are very attractive in the clip; first, Mark Legassick’s guitar break travels Carl Perkins and that’s cool. Second, April Jackson is a true delight in her timeless vocal style. Thirdly, the overall good nature of all the players is endearing and fourth but not the last, this song makes me want to drink all day long with friends and family (and strangers alike) in grand the-devil-may-care fashion.

Check it out and the band’s new album coming later in the year.
