GTC EXLSV: MY DEAR WENDY talks Christmas on the Rocks
My Dear Wendy + Julia Dettwiler Christmas on the Rocks is available on Spotify, Apple Music, mdw.com
The holidays for me have always been family-oriented, and it’s more of a comforting feeling of that every year. Even now, when we’re all grown up and doing different things, and we don’t always stay in touch through the year, the Holiday Season always brings us back together. It used to be a big thing with all of us, but even though it’s much smaller now, I know we still have each other and can enjoy the feeling that we can take time to appreciate each other for the Holidays.
Recording a holiday album has been a goal of mine for probably almost 4 years or so. It was difficult, because you have to get started in the summer, and it was always like life got in the way at that very same time. A co-writer of mine in Nashville and I finally got a version of “Jingle Bells” finished, but it hasn’t gotten a release yet.
Then finally this last year, another friend of mine (Julia Dettwiler) and fellow artist came on board and really helped get the creative motivation going for it! We have 3 classics: “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” (Austin Filingo on guitar), “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”, and “O Christmas Tree.” Two covers: “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” (Bill Pomerleau on guitars), and “One More Sleep.” We also have two originals: “All My Mistletoe is Dead” (written by Julia), and “It’s Not Christmas ‘til Someone’s Cryin” (written by me).
I’m super excited it’s finally here, and hopefully, I can make it a yearly thing and include more Holidays and more songs!

“Christmas on the Rocks has instant Holiday Classic interwoven throughout. Moving effortlessly from R&B, soul, rock n roll, folk, and pop favorites to their very own new Christmastime songs, it becomes evident that My Dear Wendy & Dettwiler were meant to make this LP.” – Walter Price, the GTC
