I certainly hope it isn’t just me, but singer/songwriter Joan Armatrading’s name has escaped me over the devades. After hearing a few of this brilliant voice’s tracks being played on a podcast I realized I’d heard her music in the past but I had never heard her name. What a travesty, what have I been missing…The link to so many artists’ sounds that I hadn’t been aware of.

I’ve wasted no time and becoming acquainted with this British one-of-a-kind. Armatrading was before and easily an influence on greats such as Tracy Chapman and Criissie Hynde and is certainly one of the greatest songwriters I’ve ever heard.
