Boise, Idaho’s The Queen of the Minor Key Eilen Jewell is a rarity in this new heyday of indie musicians. With a fair mix of roots, blues, and rock, Jewell is a stands out among her peers. Her recent single, “It’s Your Voodoo Working”, from the ‘Down Hearted Blues’ album, is a top example of Jewell’s powers. A shadowy vocal delivery that lurks between a crisp R&B beat and near rockabilly blues guitar. Taking that New Orleans sound and spreading it into broader landscapes. Which is brilliantly respectful of the 1961 Charles Sheffield version.
