When will the overwhelming anxiety end? Pandemic, social unrest and the predicted unpredictability of a certain Megalomaniac’s acceptance of the US election continue to aggravate and confuse. Social media and TV news outlets fueling the fires as calm seems elusive. And the beautifully solemn new single, “Comedy Show”, from Nashville’s Flight Attendant laments such zeitgeist thoughts and worries.

Let’s all laugh at the comedy show
Put our problems in the tv
We’ll joke away our lowest lows
Then we’ll lie
Where the tall weeds grow
Look up at the sky at our houses made of styrofoam

There’s a ghost from tomorrow
Telling us why
To throw money in the wind
There’s truth in the silence
The light never lied
We gotta dream beyond the end
I just keep dreaming
I just keep dreaming

The band’s lead vocalist Karalyne Winegarner, in a YouTube post, explains further, “Comedy Show’ is a somber ballad of sorts, that serves as a gentle warning to not lose sight of what’s important in a world filled with so many distractions. The song is supposed to remind you that the easier road of plugging up your ears and laughing your problems away, is a temporary fix that won’t hold.

“This song is a close one to our hearts as a band and I couldn’t think of a more perfect time to release it than when the distractions seem to be at their loudest.“

This stark track is a moving reminder of the times. With its subtle and somber arrangement nourishing Winegarner’s delicate vocals, this is a song that’ll move some to tears and inspire others to turn off the noise and find ways to make a change. And you can stream this much-needed ode and watch its into-the-water film, directed by Nick McCallum, now at the GTC.

There’s a ghost from tomorrow,” warning us to get our head out of the distraction box and take a long look at our world and ourselves and start changing and improving the one life and world we have to live in. This song is a close one to our hearts as a band and I couldn’t think of a more perfect time to release it than when the distractions seem to be their loudest.” – bio
