It appears that Athens, Greece is the new hotbed for thick bluesy stoner rock. And the five-piece rockers called Circus Caravan are one of the ones to watch. With their recent 8-track stunner ‘Scattered Sketches’ unleashed into the world, you’ll quickly understand my praise. With a sound that’s a fair mix of Humble Pie and Iron Butterfly with pinches of Monster Magnet and Rainbow in the stew, their brand of classic rock revival is soul stirring.
And it’s not just the meticulous care in crafting their sound. Their lyrics are mind-boggling moving, if not heavy on the poetic. Case in point, the band’s single “Broken Flower” really puts metaphoric beauty into a new sphere…
In the lands, we used to walk
Remember me, when you listen to that song
My flower is gone, gone with the wind
Summer dried our empty hopes indeed
Was it everything in a dream?
Am I finally awake?
You’re begging the sun to let you go
There’s nothing he can do for your woe
So if you like your alt-rock n roll heavy on the psychedelic and thought-provoking wordsmithery, then this band is gonna slide nicely into your Fu Manchu, Red Fang, and Colour Haze heavy playlist.
