The Church – ‘Pride Before A Fall’
“Good material is always fresh.” – Steve Kilbey
Featured Artist: The Church
Steve Kilbey, Peter Koppes, Tim Powles, Ian Haug
The Church have been eagerly consistent in two dozen albums. Taking cerebral rock n’ roll to dreamy landscapes and poetry in verse. You could say a thinking man’s alt-psych-jam rock band. You could argue mostly due to Steve Kilbey’s multi-approach thought processes. Only to be matched by Peter Koppes, Marty Willson-Piper’s (now replaced by the remarkable Ian Haug) and Tim Powels stars in the sky soundtracks.
The Church decided not to stay a band of grand music history and went, as the new album title suggests, Further/Deeper on a new collection that bewilders if not overly satisfies in its ability to draw you in and hold your imaginations captive.
Steve Kirby recently had this to say (Rolling Stone) about the album, “”Rejuvenated and refreshed, we have returned with our best album ever,” he continues, describing the record as going “further and deeper than ever before, with 1,001 guitars and throbbing bass and walloping drums.”
From one the greatest, prolific bands of times past to one of the greatest bands with a stellar album in times now, check out The Church’s beautiful and near surreal video for ‘Pride Before A Fall’. You’ll be glad ya did…
