For what once was VIDEO: MOLLY – “Weep, Gently Weep” (‘All That Ever Could Have Been’)
MOLLY – ‘All That Ever Could Have Been’, available 28 June 2019 @ iTunes.
by Walter Price
The new slow-burn track/video from Austrian shoegaze duo MOLLY, “Weep, Gently Weep”, isn’t a feel-good jaunt. Rather an examination of that inner-strife of maturing and feeling unfulfilled. Childhood, filled with hopes, dreams, and fears offers uncertain paths for our future selves. Often, we don’t live up to whatever expectations we or others had wished for. In the haunting Johannes Kogler filmed film for the single, Krampus, Advent’s darker creature, is alone, in a room, contemplating what once was. Manifesting in the uncontrollable anger and suffering turned to uncontrollable destruction. Ultimately, empathy and compassion for the familiarities of despair prevail.
“Weep, Gently Weep” is from the forthcoming album ‘All That Ever Could Have Been’, available 28 June 2019.
