VIDEO Lucy Dacus I Don’t Wanna Be Funny Anymore
Pass it on, she’s done with the old times. That funny girl doesn’t wanna smile for a while.

In a sea of turbulent and varying degrees of surreal Lana Del Rey, Clara Luzia and Courtney Barnett clones Richmond, VA’s Lucy Dacus is rising to the top of the indie darling crest. Rightly so, overwhelming talent is an undeniable quality often overlooked by the mainstream. Add in the artist’s blurred charisma and her album No Burden is a splendid release and the personal songwriting nears masterful. Her growing critical and fanbase seem to concur.
Now this, a new video for the lead single “I Don’t Wanna Be Funny Anymore” directed by Hunter Brumfield finds the storyline hand in gloving the track itself as a tale of fitting in and overcoming one’s self-worth/place. Brumfield uses easy to understand character archetypes à la teen faves of days old and new Mean Girls, Bev. Hills 9021 etc and this is certainly sensible if not bordering brilliant.
