Warm Soda have announced they will be taking their sweet power-pop goodness on the road and they want you to come as often as possible. To see them.
Austin, TX based Warm Soda (Mathew, Max, Caleb, Shock) will be playing in a town near you, possibly. I asked ring leader Mathew Melton a few questions about the coming journey, his move from Oakland, CA to Texas and music. And like a machine gun firing deliciously dirty bubble gum flavored oh yeahs he peeled off these nuggets, “Austin’s been great so far. I teamed up with the Bad Lovers rhythm section Caleb Dawson & Austin Shockley and a cool guitarist named Max Eaton. We are currently recording the 3rd Warm Soda album at my home studio in Austin: “Fuzz City”. We are currently playing (on the road) a mix of the 1st and 2nd albums with a couple of the new ones thrown in the mix.” We can dig it all man.
If you need to catch up on all things & sounds WS, check out their two better than most releases Someone For You (’13) & Young Reckless Hearts (’14). Warning: Their sounds have been known to cause glam garage rock power pop uncontrollable gimmie more thrusts and tremors.
People like to say things…
Rolling Stone says, “Combining elements of power pop, glam, and garage rock – and calling to mind Jay Reatard, Cheap Trick, and The Nerves – the Oakland four-piece Warm Soda, led by frontman Matthew Melton (formerly of Bare Wires), crush out killer power-pop jams.’
In Your Speakers delighted, “Even if you’ve never heard them before, you already know Warm Soda. Their debut album, Someone For You, is so familiar that you’ll find yourself thinking you have heard these songs before. But it’s not merely a trip down memory lane – there are plenty of no-name aging cover bands for that. Warm Soda is more interesting than a simple retread of the past. They do their particular brand of high-energy pop so well that you’ll forget it’s so derivative. And even if you don’t, it’ll matter less.”
Global Texan Chronicles proudly gushed, “Their album Someone For You is beautifully jammed packed with power-pop-rock gems that will make your hips swivel and sway and your body want to jerk and groove uncontrollably in exuberant movements. Movements your grand-folks would consider vulgar…”
So before Warm Soda release another flavor packed album catch these guys on the road in some good ole Rock N’ Roll glory, you owe this to yourself and society as a whole.
