Someplace between Crowded House and Toad the Wet Sprocket and, if released a few decades earlier, would’ve certainly made its way onto the Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtrack, the recent single, “Robot Heart”, from Vancouver’s The Long War is going to move you.

A bouncy alt-rock gem examining the will to break the pattern of involuntary habits. As the band’s vocalist, Chad Gilmour, is quoted, “It [Robot Heart] was born out of finding a glimmer of happiness during a lonely time, cooped up through the fall months. Staring out the window watching crows fly above as they do in Vancouver every single day at the same time to the same spot, over and over again. This song’s message alludes to my default habits in matters of the heart and my longing to reprogram myself, to stop making the same mistakes time and time again.”

With a sense of this track’s upbeat playfulness, the accompanying music video, created by Galaxy House Productions, is a straightforward film. The band, in a white room, plays and goofs around in all the song’s positive energy and solidifies this single to move us all from a daunting era into Spring and a brand new landscape of hope.

And you can stream this single and see its film, now at the GTC.

The Long War is a shared battle story between five people who have each fought to actualize their dream of becoming musicians. Unified onstage, in the studio and on record they are a shared belief, proof that the journey is worth the war.” – bio
