The Festival

Today is the 44th anniversary of the music festival that moved a generation and is still responsible for how festivals are formed today. Not to mention catapulted some, not so well known, acts to super stardom and created legends that are responsible for the sound of Rock N Roll forever!

“Who are these performers you speak of?” the kid in his Mother’s basement mumbles under his breath.

How about Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Santana, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Band, Canned Heat, Joan Baez, Melanie, Ten Years After, Sly and the Family Stone, Johnny Winter, Jefferson Airplane, Ravi Shanker, Country Joe and the Fish, Blood Sweat and Tears, Arlo Guthrie and Joe Cocker.

They say something like 400,000 people crashed and/or attended the multi-day event in 1969. I can’t confirm or deny this number since I wasn’t there nor did I own a clicker before I was born.
