Texas Red Dirt Music?

Out side of Texas and Oklahoma few people really grasp the understanding of Red Dirt Music. Maybe most haven’t realized they have been listening to this brand of music forever and didn’t make the connection.

If you’ve pleased yourself with the sounds from acts like Aaron Watson, Eli Young Band, Cody Johnson, Texas Hippie Coalition (Texas Red Dirt Metal ambassadors), Reckless Kelly, Bart Crow Band, Jason Boland, Eleven Hundred Springs, Randy Rogers Band or Willie and Waylon and a flat bed full of others, you, my friend had an earful of Texas Red Dirt Music.

Most people who call themselves ‘critics’ often refer to Red Dirt artists as Alt-country or Americana. Which is fine if you’re into generalizing everything you see and hear. I prefer calling Red Dirt sounds as a pure and true to the audience style of music that is, and has been, getting lost on Pop-Country radio.
