If only you could hear me, SINGLE/VIDEO: STEF CHURA – Scream [Will Toledo, producer]
Stef Chura – Midnight is available at Bandcamp.

by Walter Price
Feeling hidden in plain sight is far too real. As is projecting images of yourself that are as unrealistic as they are unmaintainable. Stef Chura’s 2019 crunchy ode to the need to be understood, “Scream”, brings the turbulent experience of being pushed and twisted into something misconstrued.
I’m selected
I’m selective
You can see it
It’s projected
And you know me
But I’m lonely
Yes I’m lonely
If only you can hear me scream
No one told me
You can fold me
Oh in half and hand you a piece
No one knows
And if you go see
Oh, you’ll find there’s some things you never see
The accompanying film, directed by Ambar Navarro, is a stark reminder of the isolating vulnerability, regardless of who you say you are. Set in a school gym, reminiscent of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, the images as powerful as that guitar grinding the lyrics into your soul.
If you’re a fan of Veruca Salt, Skating Polly and/or Starcrawler, then this track is going to slide nicely into your distortion-filled playlist. “Scream” is from the mindblowing ‘Midnight’ LP, produced by Will Toledo of Car Seat Headrest fame, and available now via Saddle Creek Records.
And if you wanna see Stef Chura join Pom Pom Squid and GTC fave Honey Cutt live via a YouTube concert, streaming 15 April 2020, follow the info on the flyer below.

“For most people who create art, I would assume there is some kind of deep unanswerable hole in your soul as to why you’re making it…” – S. Chura
