…letting you go, REBECCA PERL – blame you
Rebecca Perl – blame you is available at Apple Music, Tidal.
by Walter Price
The realization that a relationship has run its course, perhaps abruptly, starts an unavoidable chain of feelings. Anger, depression, blame, and, if you’re lucky, acceptance. And the delicate recent single from Los Angeles-based songwriter Rebecca Perl, “blame you“, beautifully focuses on needing to redirect realities.
As Perl explains, “When you go through heartbreak, it’s easier to blame the other person than yourself. Nobody wants to take blame for a failed relationship. Sometimes it’s nobody’s fault, and that alone can keep you up at night. At the time, blaming him was the only way I found peace with the situation and it helped me move on.”
We were just about to blossom
When we hit rock bottom
Twisting and turning at night
We were just looking for reasons to fight
And I know
There’s something in letting it go
I hate myself
For what we’ve done
I’ll go insane
Trying to figure it out
So for now, I’m blaming you
So for now, I blame you
Poetic heartbreaking truths delivered in a lighter-than-air vocal and cradled by an indelibly silky arrangement, this single is the song that will soundtrack many long contemplative drives.
