PREMIERE: THE BLANK TAPES Psychedelic Jesus
The Blank Tapes Psychedelic Jesus [Pop Rocks] is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Deezer
by Walter Price
Shot and edited in Berlin by Max Bastian, The Blank Tapes debut a mind-bending music video for “Psychedelic Jesus”. The single is taken from the expansive demos and deep cuts LP ‘Pop Rocks’ (2021). An LP that the prolific consciousness-expanding songwriter Matt Adams explains, “These recordings were initially intended to be demos with the intention of re-recording all of them someday. I only managed to re-record 25 of them (some released, some unreleased), so here’s the rest with some recent additional overdubs.” (Bandcamp)
Featuring a brief cameo by Claudy Nderlein, the masterfully cut video is a trippy calling card for a song that begs the listener to look inward and all around for the magic in everything and everyone. That’s my interpretation anyway. Decide for yourself and see that new film and stream the full ‘Pop Rocks’ LP, here at the GTC.
