DEEP CUTS: PEPPERMINT B Lou Reed
Peppermint B Lou Reed is available on Head Perfume, Apple Music, Deezer
by Walter Price
The Lou Reed mythos is still inspiring music makers far and wide. But to what effect? I’ve had my own late-night run-in with the seminal Velvet Underground co-founder but I’ve never written a song as beautiful as Denmark’s Peppermint B and his track, aptly titled, “Lou Reed”.
Although this deep cut is open for interpretation as all songs tend to be, I wonder if Peppermint B’s Steffen Westmark truly wishes to fill the boots of such an overly misunderstood parable. With this ode’s indelibly melodic vocals, Lightning Seeds-esque arrangement, powerhouse horns, and sympathetic storyline, I would wager that the answer is, yes. But, I must invite you to have a listen and decide for yourself.
Peppermint B is set to drop a gorgeous pop culture new single “Raised by Sitcoms” on February 23rd, and as you wait for that friendly single, stream the hidden-in-plain-sight “Lou Reed”, here at the GTC.

“With Peppermint B, he unfolds his indie pop-rock world, taking responsibility for all instrumentation and production with the sole purpose of getting as close as possible to the vision in his head. Peppermint B is synonymous with retro rock, endless hooks, sunshine, and the highest level of musicianship.” – bio
