– a style of popular music incorporating elements of folk and electronic music.
The Duke of Norfolk (Adam Howard) has released one of the more stunning albums of 2018. Attendre et Espérer truly is a study in waiting and hoping. Steeped in personal experiences, literature, spirituality and layered textures too vast to comprehend in just a few streams. Haunting nooks filled with fears, love, death, anticipation, and growth. Arrangments as complicated as they are beautiful. And then there are the moments when the air in the space he recorded in becomes the ghost that carries the sonic weight. In many ways, Attendre et Espérer could be considered a case study in what cerebral music can and should be.
An album for fans of Beirut, Bon Iver, and Sharon Van Etten.
Shot, in part, by Roseanne Watt in the Shetland Islands and, in part, by Adam Howard in Edinburgh, on the coast of Oregon, & on various roads around the United States.
