MY ABSURD CONSCIOUSNESS self portrait

by Walter Price
There’s not much of an origin story behind the self-described “trans, experimental rock artist” my absurd consciousness. But they have released what appears to be a YouTube exclusive double a-side release, “self-portrait/simulacrum”.
The first chapter/track is a sparse airy shoegaze guitar-driven number that sets the ominous tone for what’s to come in the second exploration of self-doubt act…”Every day I wake up and see the same things over and over and over again as if I’m trapped in a cobwebbed room full of mirrors reflecting back onto me the reality of my being/ I am trapped so far inside myself that I can’t see anything but myself, and the irony is I don’t know what myself [even] looks like because I can’t trust the distorted picture painted by these fucking mirrors/ Nor can I trust my distorted perception of this picture/ I see myself only as a distortion of a distortion—a muddled painting in abstract/ Black and white and red all jumbled together and splattered on canvas with haphazard precision…”.
The fear of navigating oneself is evident throughout this avant-garde/experimental release and it’s as heartbreaking as they come. But it is the bravery of artists like this to use their craft as a therapeutic release so that the rest of us can gain perspective.
