GTC DEEP CUT: MISTY MILLER Me
Misty Miller Me is available on This Old Heart of Mine, Deezer, Apple Music

by Walter Price
There are many fun albums in the world to sway and bop to. There are a lot of albums to turn up, drive fast, and soundtrack letting the day’s worries dissipate into the wind. Then there are contemplative albums that feel more like voyeuristic views into a songwriter’s diary. Misty Miller’s 2022 EP, ‘This Old Heart of Mine‘ is of the latter and is as gorgeously sincere and palpable as they come.
While the entirety of the 5-vinnette release is a must-listen, the final song on the set, “Me”; is an unforgettable beauty of softness as a coping mechanism, navigating hurt, and gaining inner perspective. Miller laments, “Baby you don’t wanna hear this/ but I am doing fine/I’m not saying it’s all easy/ but at least I can still smile/ I’m going out and dancing/ and sleeping pretty well/ and no one needs to know/ what I’m not gonna tell…”. Leaving is hard enough as it is but as we can all attest to, the baggage is often the heaviest part of the journey.
Miller truly punctuates the emotional tolls of life and love throughout this EP and her songs will leave a lingering imprint on your soul. You can stream ‘The Old Heart of Mine’, featuring “Me”, here at the GTC.

the hardest part is leaving
it’s so hard to let go
it’s hard to not call you
and when I miss you let you know
but I won’t regret my choices
I chose to be free
find healthy inner voices
and fall in love with me
find healthy inner voices
and fall in love with me
