Singer-songwriter Melissa Bel has certainly come a long way and weathered plenty of changes since she first started writing and recording music. And, I have to say that her latest self is quite charming and, dare I say, most commercial. Take for example her recent single “Ever After”. A song about perseverance, love, and family.
Bel sings, “You said, you said/ That we’d make it/ And we did—We took a roll of the dice/ Now look at us building a life/ I don’t know if these 4 walls/ Are big enough for all this love…”. Oh là là, so much warmth in this memory she’s painted.
To add even more love, Bel posted the song’s backstory to Bandcamp, “I wrote this song shortly after my husband and I moved into our first house as a snapshot of life at the time, but also about hopes and dreams for the future. Now with our first baby due in just a few weeks, it feels like the perfect time to put this song out into the world!”
