Fractured by the flaws, VIDEO / SINGLE: MARCELO DEISS – Horses Running
MARCELO DEISS – Horses Running is available now at Bandcamp.

by Walter Price
The recent single from Marcelo Deiss, “Horses Running”, will be a treat for fans of the late 80s/early 90’s Brit-pop. With an added smidge of Lou Reed’s urban purr and a whole lotta social conscience weaved in. An indie-rock lament on that seemingly unstoppable drive to succeed, falling into a vicious cycle seems inevitable. As corporations preach that you gotta get yours…
Get your money
Save your job
Buy your Rolex
Pay your loans
And you’ll be wondering how you got so lazy
Laws of nature, human actions, Holy wars, back in Vogue, we judge before we learn to solve,
Chevrolet, Amazon, Hollywood, caffeine, Ritalin, on the run, planet earth, on the phone, on
the go and even Nike can’t save us from our little lives
Fractured by the flaws of this scenery, born to live, born to die in the city
The video, a mesmerizing, if not anxiety-inducing, supercut of the fracturing cultural imaginary that plagues us. The themes are obvious and point well made. But the real star of the film are the powerful movements by dancer Jenn Vogtle. Stunning physicality that tour guides these scenes. Her interpretative dance tells the tale of moving through our days nearly oblivious of the weight being thrust upon our psyche. Beauty vs. societal beasts.

“I think it’s important to discuss topics about our society and the current problems we face together in the modern world. This to me seems more relevant due to the current situation our society is facing right now.” – MARCELØ DEISS
