RnR Pre-School MACARONI BIRTHDAY
by Walter Price
This is going to skew a bit younger—or will it? Toronto’s Macaroni Birthday has announced a new LP called ‘Sing Rock ‘N’ Roll Songs For Children’, expected on 27 October via We Are Busy Bodies Records. And with a title like that, the cat is out of the bag. It’s clearly an album for the preschool crowd. Again, or is it?
Heavily influenced by the likes of Ramones, there’s something for everyone on this punk-meets-learning 14-track LP brimming with singalong and bopping around good times. Take the lead single “Recite The Rainbow” for a spin. Taking on the yumminess of foods and colors, replete with an animated music video that features a unicorn propelled by rainbow gas, if you know what I mean, the giggles will flow from every age.
Big green avocados / With red ripe tomatoes
Lemons are yellow limes are green / I like purple mangosteen
Fruits and veggies are so fun / I’ll eat every single one
When you ask what foods I know / I’ll recite the rainbow
Ahead of the album’s release, stream “Recite The Rainbow” and see its culinary-colored music video, here at the GTC.

“Friends for 20 years, Macaroni Birthday write bite-sized songs for the whole family. Macaroni Birthday is the duo of Patrick McCormack and Eric Warner. Both have spent time playing in loud rock and punk bands, performing hundreds of concerts between the two of them. Warner also runs acclaimed record label, We Are Busy Bodies. The spark to start Macaroni Birthday was in part inspired by Warner’s three kids and the time spent making up songs for them to make them laugh, smile, and eat their fruits and vegetables.” – bio
