“Vintage, yet contemporary slice of British R&B, mixed with the echoes of Memphis Soul” outfit The King Dukes have just dropped their third single “Kid Gloves”. A cut from their forthcoming Numb Tongues album. And like the first two releases, this one takes its cues from the heights of the rhythm & blues movement and it is destined to be a jukebox and dancefloor fave.
Speaking to the GTC, bandleader Marc Griffiths, explained, “With Kid Gloves, we wanted an old fashioned punchy dance track, in the mould of Arthur Conley, Otis Redding or even a top of his game Tom Jones. Something with a groove, enough to make you move but with horns punchy enough to knock you off your feet. We recorded the horns live in a section, just like a 60s band would have to get the right effect. I hope we managed it, it feels like we did.”
Temporarily steady yourself and check out the GTC Premier of this punchy toe-tapper and its vivacious video, directed by Michael Sides, below. ‘Numb Tongues’ is expected 25th October 2019 via Paratone Records and QSounds Recording.
