…whatever helps you, hurts me, KID BE KID Sense
by Walter Price
Berlin’s KID BE KID has dropped a modern jazzy soul single that’s far more than first meets the ear. “Sense” begins its journey innocent enough as a piano-driven R&B number but somewhere along the way it morphs into a whole new beast. Smooth sincere vocals morph into guttural cries full of bold empowerment and tactile depths.
As for that delicate lounge piano that got us started here, well, the composer shocks the senses (if you will) with a blend of subtle electronica, trip-hop beats, fierce emphasis on the ivories, and vocals that reach dramatic new peaks. All this culminates in a staggering sound that is far beyond any current bedroom pop or neu blue-eyed soul that may be on offer.
KID BE KID Sense is a powerful and uniquely orchestrated track that, undoubtedly, will cause emotional íntrugue….and what a brilliant result it is. You can stream the single as well as see its performance music video, here at the GTC.

I am done.
You must be better than me
in this shit called “back to reality”.
What a break, what a hurt.
What a kick,
soft but deep
You must be smart or stoned,
whatever helps you helps you, whatever helps you, hurts me.
Don’t look under the pillow.
I‘m still here
I‘m still here
I‘m still here…
