CHARITY SINGLE: KAT KOAN Dream Girl

Fans were happily surprised to learn that Berlin songwriter Kat Koan dropped a new atmospheric charity single “Dream Girl” via Bandcamp.
Poetic, noir, and someplace between Andrea Schroeder and a poppier Nick Cave, Koan was kind enough to share the following back story for the UNICEF benefiting track; “Well, I guess we all have dreams for our little lives, and about a year ago some things were happening that gave the impression that some of mine could possibly become a reality. But then the house of cards tumbled down and things didn’t work out. I felt pretty disillusioned, downhearted, and a bit like I had let myself down. So I wrote a song about the juxtaposition between the girl I was in my dream and the person that I had become.
“The song felt way too sad and way too personal to release, so I just kept it in my little treasure box at home for almost a year. But recently I spent a bit of time away from all the crazy noisy stuff like social media etc and found a way to recalibrate and focus on what actually makes me happy. Most people go through the same thing at some point in their lives. I guess we just gotta make sure we find ways to pull ourselves together and start dreaming and creating again.
“I have decided to release the song on Bandcamp with the option to download it as I would like to raise some money and donate it to UNICEF, in order to help those who don’t have the privilege to dream.”
And I think we all can agree that there’s no better time to dream than the holiday season…You can stream the stark beauty of “Dream Girl” and help a more than worthy cause, here at the GTC.
