Geez, I feel like a heel that I hadn’t fallen under the spell of Josie Cotton until recently. Cotton has been creating doo-wop punk n roll for decades now and, for whatever reason, hasn’t lit up my world as she should have. This is now and through her 2019 Christmas charmer, “Every Day Like Christmas”, I’ve found a new favorite addiction.
Cotton, who can traverse music genres like a skilled sound ninja, is everything The Runaways, Little Eva, and The Plimsouls all in one. And it’s the Holiday season of one of the weirdest, soul-sucking years any generation has ever experienced and a modern retro Christmas single with a lovely sentiment is what we need to pep us up and spiffy up our spirits.

The brotherhood of man
Cotton also has a brilliant LP, “Frightened by Nightingales”, that’s a stunner in its own right. And it’s solid proof that this persevering and empowering artist is, at any age, a true hero in any music scene. I may be late to her party, but I’m here now and plan to be the last to leave…
