Regardless of how dirty I’ll feel later, here is a direct quote from DUCKS! press release for their new single “Top Horse”, “It’s a surreal dancefloor odyssey, featuring galloping percussion, flying guitars, theremin outbursts of the ‘woo-woo’ variety, and a choir of angels singing glorious nonsense at the top of their lungs. The lyrics, performed spoken-word style by a cast of intriguing strangers, describe a blonde in a bathtub talking about a white horse… or is it the horse in the bathtub? Either way, it’s weirdo disco of the highest order, in the tradition of Was (Not Was), Material, Dr Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band, The Avalanches and Basement Jaxx.”

YES! I can save some of my always well-intended hyperbole and tell this true story. As I was sitting on the Kulkwitzer See beach I opened up an email promoting this far out addictive track. Not too long into its powers, a group of half-lit teens camped nearby asked, “Was ist das?!”…I tried to explain but ultimately all we could do is listen, trip out, and love it.

What more do you and I need to know? Put DUCKS (Lani Bagley and Craig Schuftan) in your summer…and boogie.

Come to think of it, I don’t feel dirty at all…
